Cerium oxide loaded with Gum Arabic as environmentally friendly anti-corrosion additive for protection of coated steel

Abstract The depreciation of assets and safety threats because corrosion has forced to develop eco-friendly smarter protection strategies. In this study, natural Gum Arabic (GA) was used as a inhibitor loaded into cerium oxide nanoparticles (CONPs) an environment-friendly additive for coated steel in the marine environment. This uniformly dispersed epoxy formulation that protect plates. Epoxy coatings containing CONPs, without GA, were also prepared reference. High-Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HR-TEM) Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) revealed successful loading GA CONPs. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) techniques confirmed approximately ?30.0?wt% Electrochemical impedance (EIS) demonstrated anticorrosion properties modified with CONPs when compared reference coatings. mechanism postulates act filler material coating it can aid recovery protective leading formation stable layer.
